Documentation

Get your first page converted in about ten minutes.

This is the whole workflow: install Brxify, connect a licence, export from Elementor, convert on a Bricks site, then read the report. Every conversion creates a Bricks draft — your Elementor content is never rewritten or deleted.

WordPress 6.0+, PHP 7.4+ Brxify is a thin client; the conversion runs on our servers.
Elementor Free or Pro On the site you export from. Hello Elementor is the tested theme.
Bricks active On the site you convert into. Staging is the recommended place.

Choose your path

Brxify can convert in two directions. Pick one before you start — it decides which site you install on and where the Bricks draft lands.

Two sites: Elementor here, Bricks there.Recommended
  • Your production site is never modified at all
  • Bricks doesn't need to exist on the Elementor site
  • You review the whole rebuild before anyone sees it
  • Moves a JSON or zip file between the two installs
One site running both builders.
  • Bricks data is written onto the same post
  • _elementor_data
    is left completely alone
  • Visitors keep seeing Elementor until you deactivate it
  • No file to move; both builders live on one install

Either way, nothing is destroyed. Brxify never deletes an Elementor page, post or library item. Removing a conversion strips only the Brxify and Bricks keys.

Install Brxify

Same plugin on both sites. It adapts to what it finds: the Export tab appears where Elementor is active, and Convert appears where Bricks is active.

  1. Grab brxify.zip from brxify.com/download, or from your Freemius account if you've already bought a plan.

  2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, install, then activate.

  3. A Brxify item appears in the admin sidebar with four tabs: Export, Convert, Reports and Account.

Updates arrive through the normal WordPress plugin updater. The conversion engine itself lives on our servers and improves without you reinstalling anything.

Connect your licence

Every site starts with 3 free credits, no card and no signup — enough to convert a real page and judge the output. Connect a licence when you want more.

  1. After checkout, Freemius emails you a licence key beginning sk_. It's also in your Freemius account portal.

  2. Open Brxify → Account, paste the key into the Licence field and press Connect. The credit meter in the header fills in straight away.

  3. Paste the new key over the old one. It re-syncs on the next conversion — there's nothing to deactivate first.

Connecting a licence sends only your site URL and the key. Page content is sent only when you press Convert, and is never stored.

Export from Elementor

Run this on the Elementor site. Bricks does not need to be installed here.

  1. You'll see every Elementor-built page and template on the site. Use the search box or the type filter to narrow the list.

  2. Pages, templates, headers and footers can all go in the same export. Select all takes everything currently visible after filtering.

  3. This bundles your colours, typography, fonts and container width so they can land in Bricks theme styles. Only turn it off when you're exporting into a Bricks site you've already styled.

  4. One document downloads as a .json file. Two or more download as a .zip of the same files. Exporting is free — credits are only spent when you convert.

Still on legacy sections and columns? They convert fine, but you'll get a cleaner result if you run Elementor's own "convert to containers" migration first, give it a quick visual check, and export after that.

Convert to Bricks

Run this on the site where Bricks is active — staging, if you have one.

  1. Pick a source: Upload a file for a JSON or zip you exported elsewhere, or Pages on this site to convert Elementor documents that already live on this install.

  2. A single .json converts on its own. Several files, or a .zip from the Export tab, run as one batch.

  3. "Apply the global kit to Bricks" overwrites the matching Bricks theme styles with the colours, typography and container width from the export. Turn it off if this Bricks site is already styled the way you want.

  4. The bar shows how many documents are queued and what they'll cost. Each document is one credit, charged on success only. The live log names each document as it completes.

Failed documents are never charged. If a conversion errors or is rejected, the credit is not taken — retry it or send us the report.

Read the report

Every conversion writes a report, and Brxify → Reports lists them all. This is the part that turns "is it done?" into a scoped task list. Open a row to expand its drawer.

Fidelity
How much of the document mapped to native Bricks elements, shown as a percentage with the mapped and unsupported counts underneath.
Elements
How many Bricks elements were written. Usually higher than the Elementor node count, because nested wrappers get unwrapped into real structure.
Mapped widgets
Every widget type that converted, with a count for each — Heading × 27, Image Carousel × 1, and so on.
What's left for you
Unsupported widgets with their counts and the sections they sit in. If it says "Nothing", the whole document mapped.
Global classes
How many BEM-named Bricks global classes were registered from the document's styling.

The Copy support snapshot button on this tab puts the whole technical picture on your clipboard, minus your licence key. Paste it into a support email and we can match your site to the conversion on our side.

Finish in Bricks

What's left is normal Bricks building — with the brief already written for you.

Unsupported widgets

Anything Brxify can't map natively is kept as an HTML placeholder so the layout holds its shape and nothing vanishes. Visitors don't see the placeholder chrome; admins do. Rebuild those spots with native Bricks elements when you're ready, using the report's location list to find them.

Template display rules

Headers, footers, singles and archives arrive as Bricks templates, but Bricks handles "where does this show?" differently from Elementor. Set the display conditions on each converted template in Bricks — it's a few clicks per template, not a rebuild.

Global classes

Styles land on Bricks global classes named after your Elementor CSS classes, so .hero__title stays .hero__title. Where you hadn't named anything, Brxify generates a readable BEM name from the section. Inline styles are used only where Bricks has no equivalent control.

Publishing

Converted documents are drafts. Review, then publish. On the in-place path, your visitors keep seeing Elementor until you deactivate the Elementor plugin — that deactivation is your cutover moment, and it's entirely your call.

Reconvert & revert

Both live in the row drawer on the Reports tab.

Reconvert
Runs the document again and replaces the Bricks result. Costs 1 credit, the same as any conversion. Useful after we ship a mapping improvement, or after you clean up the Elementor source.
Revert
Strips Brxify and Bricks keys from that one page. Free. Your Elementor data is untouched, and the post itself is never deleted.
Remove all conversions
In the collapsed danger zone at the bottom of Reports. In-place pages keep their Elementor data; Brxify clone drafts and templates are deleted. Elementor library items are never deleted.

Credits & billing

Credits are the only unit you need to think about.

1 credit
Converts one document — a page, template, header or footer.
Plan credits
Refill every month and do not stack. Freelancer 50, Pro 200, Agency 600.
Top-up credits
Stack on top of any plan and never expire. $9 for 20, and they work on their own without a subscription.
Failed conversions
Are never charged.
Exports
Are free. You only spend on the convert side.
Payments
Handled by Freemius — cards or PayPal, VAT invoices, and cancellation any time from your account portal.

Your current balance, this cycle's usage and the maximum batch size are all on Brxify → Account. Plans and prices live on brxify.com.

Troubleshooting

The things that actually come up.

The Convert tab says this site can't receive conversions

Bricks isn't the active theme on this install. Converting to Bricks without Bricks is just JSON, so the Convert action stays disabled. Activate Bricks (or a Bricks child theme) and reload.

My Export tab is empty

Brxify lists documents that actually carry Elementor data. A page that was created in Elementor but never saved with content won't appear. Open it in Elementor, save once, then refresh the Export tab.

The credit meter shows zero but I have a plan

Press the refresh icon next to the meter in the header — that re-reads your balance from the API. If it still reads zero, the licence probably isn't connected on this site: check Brxify → Account and paste the key again.

A failed API connection no longer paints a zero balance, so a persistent zero is a real zero or a missing licence.

A converted draft looks unstyled

Usually the global kit wasn't applied, so the Bricks theme styles don't match the design the page was built against. Reconvert with "Apply the global kit to Bricks" ticked, or set the theme styles manually in Bricks.

If the layout is right but the CSS looks stale, use Regenerate All CSS in the Reports danger zone to re-compile Bricks' static stylesheets.

A draft page returns a 404

Drafts aren't publicly reachable by their pretty permalink. Use the View link in Reports, which uses a preview-safe URL, rather than typing the slug yourself.

A widget came through as a placeholder

That's the intended behaviour for anything Brxify can't map natively — usually a third-party addon widget. The markup is preserved so the layout holds, and the report names the widget, count and location.

If it's a core Elementor Free or Pro widget, that's a gap on our side. Send us the support snapshot and we'll look at mapping it.

Still stuck?

Copy the support snapshot from the Reports tab and send it over — it tells us far more than a screenshot can.
